OUR STORY

We are a commercial construction Class A general contractor providing services to the greater Charlottesville area.

Built on a commitment to excellence, the Lee Building company was founded in 1939 by Bob and Bobby Lee under the name R. E. Lee & Son, Inc. Today, four generations later, our success can be measured by the enduring quality of our work and the confidence placed in us by our clients. As award winning, recognized leaders, in the building industry, we provide sound management, high standards of craftsmanship, on-schedule production, within-budget performance – all accomplished within a culture of reliability and responsibility to the client.

We are a commercial construction Class A general contractor providing services to the greater Charlottesville area.

The Lee Construction Group, Inc. traces its roots back to back to 1939, evolving from a highly skilled father and son team, Bob and Bobby Lee, who built and restored fine and historic homes across Central Virginia under the name R. E. Lee & Son, Inc., to a group of independent businesses engaged in the commercial building construction industry. Our businesses provide the full life cycle of building services.

PROJECT GALLERY

Greenleaf Mixed Use Building
Lee Building was selected to construction a new 3-story multiuse building. The 30,000 square foot building includes a parking structure, commercial units on the first level, commercial and residential on the second level, and residential with mountain-view balconies on the third level. LEE performed the construction of the shell of the building, the parking garage, all of the upfitting for the residential apartments, and layout for the upfitting of the commercial space.

The Jefferson Guest House
Lee Building Company renovated this existing historic building on East Jefferson Street in downtown Charlottesville. The building, originally constructed in 1907, was one of the earliest examples of brick veneer facade encasing a structurally wood-framed building in Charlottesville. Our team partnered with Design Develop LLC, a frequent architecture partner, to restore life back into the building and bring it up to modern standards to transform it into a bed & breakfast.

Bonumose Research & Development Facility
Lee Building Company partnered with the company Bonumose to construct a new state-of-the-art research & development facility for their groundbreaking method of producing Tagatose. The 36,000 Square Foot facility now houses their production facility, research & laboratory area, and their office space.

Custom Pool House
Lee Town & Country Homes constructed a custom pool house for a repeat client in Albemarle County. The project included a custom stone exterior to match the current patio, vaulted ceilings with exposed custom wood beams, and stone fireplace.
